Under 15's B`v Slimbridge Under 15's B

Frocester Under 15 b’s v Slimbridge Under 15 b’s

On a warm Thursday evening Frocester under 15b played their first home game of the season against Slimbridge, with both teams fielding depleted sides due to school commitments. It seemed only fair to let Slimbridge borrow a couple of fielders with only seven of their own players this set the tone for a friendly but competitive game.

With the toss won by Frocester we decided to bat first .With both opening bats missing it was up to M.Glew and P.Old  to step up to the mark against the opening bowlers of A.Knight and T.Lee . The first four overs past without incident with both batsmen and bowlers playing themselves in .The advantage going to slimbridge in the 5th over when P.Old couldn’t resist trying to hit across the line of a T.Lee delivery ending with his middle stump being removed for 8 and Frocester on 21-1 this brought W.Lewis to the crease and with Frocester needing to push the total on it fell to M.Glew to take the lead and with opening bowlers seen off the weakened Slimbridge attack started to leak runs with some strong batting and sharp running between the wickets this soon saw Frocester reach 74-1 off 15 overs and with M.Glew retiring two overs later, on 51 and New batsmen E.Ashton out for 0 off A.Kolinowski.

Frocester finished their innings on 127-2 with W.Lewis 31 not out and J.Pritchard 3 not out with T.Lee and A.Kolinowski the pick of the bowlers with figures of 4-1-1-18 and 4-0-1-38.

In reply Slimbridge started well with A.Knight hitting four in the first over. But once again it was Frocester who struck first with B.Keneflick taking the wicket off Hyam for 2 then followed up by P.Old claiming Knight for 14 and D.Chapman caught and bowled for 1 by T. Fisher with Slimbridge stunned on 19-3 off the first 6 overs .But with a change of bowlers and some fine rear-guard batting by J. Wagstaff 17, Kolinowski 3 not out and Parry run out for 8 saw slimbridge finish out the innings on 64-5 falling short by 63 runs.

Both coaches commented after the game as to how well the boys had played and to the friendly atmosphere, Bill Church (Slimbridge coach) also gave a big thank you to the 3 Frocester boys who fielded for them, B. Keneflick, T. Jacks and   J. Glew.
